The District is excited to announce a new community resource! We have recently launched a Native Plant Database. The database is currently available on our website. It is not all-inclusive, and we will be continuing to add more species over time. We hope that this is a useful resource for those who are interested in learning more about native plants, including things like their ideal conditions, bloom times, and other qualities. Please explore the database, and reach out to us if you have any suggestions for how to make this the best resource it can be!
We are also hoping this could be a great resource for those who are interested in turning a space into a habitat. We are currently in the planning stage of creating a “microhabitat” program, similar to “backyard habitats” in other areas. This program will help to empower anyone, regardless of their space, to grow both edible plants and native plants. If this is something you may be interested in, please take the survey linked to the left to tell us how we can best make this useful for you!
If you have feedback or questions on either the Native Plant Database or upcoming new microhabitat program, please reach out to Brooke Karasch, Outreach & Education Specialist, at [email protected] or 971-421-3537.
