Join us for the second annual Perseid Party!
This is a fun, family-friendly evening outdoors. We saw a few meteors last year, and we hope to see more this year! The party is scheduled for the peak night of the Perseid Meteor Shower, and we have a new moon too, so viewing should be excellent. We will be joined by Carlton Observatory, who will add to the fun with a telescope or two!
What To Bring:
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. We won’t be walking far, but terrain is uneven.
- Water bottle and snack if you’d like one
- Bug spray
- Blanket or something to sit or lie on
- Headlamp, ideally one with a red light setting (it is easier for your eyes to readjust to darkness after red light than other types of light, which will help for star and meteor viewing)
This event is free, but Miller Woods and Carlton Observatory are both supported by donations.
The Perseid Party registration is full for this year. This will be an annual event, so check back next year! And check out the other night programs Carlton Observatory runs!
