The District has a book club with McMinnville Public Library! This book club will run from October through March. Cover image for Slime : how algae created us, plague us, and just might save us

The next meeting will be on March 17th at 6pm in the Carnegie Room of the McMinnville Public Library. The book of the month is Slime: How Algae Created Us, Plagued Us, and Just Might Save Us by Ruth Kassinger. The library system has a few copies, and always check local bookshops if you’d like to purchase a copy!

We encourage all who are interested to attend, even if you haven’t read the book. If you’d prefer, you can listen to a podcast about how algae plays a role in biotechnology. Or maybe a shorter podcast about how the author got interested in this topic. If you’re a visual learner, try a video about algae as a potential crop!

And even if you don’t do any of those things — please attend if you’re interested! We always have great conversations and everyone is an important part of it.

This is the last meeting for this spring. We’ll take the summer off and get started again in the fall. We will be choosing our next few books for the fall and winter, so come with ideas of what you might like to read!
