Why is it important to control?

Rapid and massive vegetative growth displace native vegetation and climb forest trees.

How can you identify it?

Habitat: Prefers moist soils in areas with summer shade and winter sunlight.
Life Cycle: Perennial
Height: Can reach 100 feet climbing mature trees.
Leaf Description: Evergreen, leathery leaves. Juvenile leaves are lobed.
Fruit & Flower Description: Greenish-white flowers. Purple-black berries mature in spring.
Bloom Time: Fall

How do you control it?

  • Manually remove when soil is moist. Let vines dry out completely to prevent re-rooting.

  • Cut climbing ivy at chest height down to base of tree. Leave upper vines to die.
