Oregon Department of Forest and Oregon Department of Agriculture announced this week that emerald ash borer has been detected in Yamhill, Marion, and Clackamas Counties. From their news release, “One adult beetle was found in a trap in the Gaston area – one of 197 traps distributed by ODF and USDA APHIS in the Willamette Valley. The federal lab officially confirmed the find as EAB on Aug. 12. The trap was located just inside Yamhill County about seven miles from Forest Grove, where EAB was first detected in Oregon in late June 2022.”
Some general information about emerald ash borer can be found through Oregon Department of Forestry. ODF has made a series of videos about emerald ash borer and other related topics. They also have a publication about how to choose alternative tree species in place of ash trees.
If you think you’ve seen an emerald ash borer, please report it to the Oregon Invasive Species Hotline!
