The weather was perfect in the middle of May for throngs of 5th graders (as in 580!) to attend the 60th running of the Cruickshank Woodland Tour. Students rotated through station on plants & wildlife, soils & watersheds, indigenous forest uses & skills, forest management & products, fire prevention & safety, and outdoor behavior. This is a remarkable event for these young students. There were multiple volunteers and partners there that attended themselves when they were young, one who attended in the late 1960s. What a legacy! Deep thanks go out to the Cruickshank family and all the partners and staff that pull this off each year.
