Miller Woods Update – June 5, 2020

Thanks to everyone for respecting the closure of Miller Woods while we develop a system to keep staff, volunteers and visitors as safe as possible in this uncertain time.

Many visitors to Miller Woods may be unaware, but we rely on a small group of dedicated volunteers for nearly 100% of the property’s maintenance.  This fact has made Board and staff extremely cautious about reopening to minimize the risks for our small staff, volunteers and visitors.

Our Board of Directors and staff have developed a plan for opening the property for limited use after Yamhill County has been approved for Phase 2 reopening.  Starting on June 9th, we will implement a “soft” opening using an online reservation system to try and minimize the volume of cars that visit the property in a day.  This link will be sent to Friends of Miller Woods Members during the first week of phase 2.  If all goes well, we will make this reservation system available publicly on our webpage on June 16th.  We request that residents from outside of Yamhill County continue to keep their distance and choose another destination closer to home.

In addition to the reservation system, we will be asking visitors to follow directional trail signs to ensure visitors are all travelling in the same direction to minimize face to face contact.  This map will be included in your reservation confirmation and available online.

The porta potty and the dumpster will be locked.  Please practice “leave no trace” and take your trash with you.

We respectfully ask that every effort is made by the public visiting the property to protect our volunteers and staff while enjoying all nature has to offer at Miller Woods.  Please be ready for unexpected schedule changes as we respond to changes in how COVID-19 affects our schedules, hours of operation and sanitary protocols at the property.

Thank you again to our community for your patience and understanding.  We are all in this together!
